“Tell Me What I Want to Hear”
Not what I need to hear
One of the hardest parts of our work is when a client only wants to hear what they have already decided in their mind.
A mother became furious during a reading because I didn’t confirm the sports career she had already planned for her young daughter. In her head, everything was already mapped out.
But when I tuned in, I clearly saw that her daughter enjoyed sports but didn’t want to pursue it professionally. Her real passion lay in medicine, and I saw a bright, fulfilling future there.
The mother didn’t want to hear any of it.
What is conditional love?
This is a clear example of conditional love.
Many parents (often unconsciously) give the message: “I love you and support you as long as you follow the path I have in mind for you.”
True unconditional love says: “I love you exactly as you are, and I support you in discovering your own soul path, even if it’s different from what I had imagined.”
Moments like this always make me sad, because I see this pattern so often between parents and children.
We sometimes project our own unfulfilled dreams onto our kids. We think we know what will make them happy, but true happiness comes when a child is allowed to discover their own passion.
Some children are thrilled to follow in their parents’ footsteps. Others feel called to a completely different path. Who are we to take away a child’s chance at fulfillment just because it fills a void in us?
The same thing happens in love and relationships.
The guides can be very clear when someone is not a good match for you. Yet when a person has already set their heart on a certain man or woman, they often don’t want to hear that it won’t work out.
Only the more flexible and conscious people are open to the guidance and willing to consider other possibilities.
It can feel painful when the guides say the person you’re in love with is not your future partner. But with their loving explanation, you slowly start to understand why.
At the same time, they show you who is coming into your life — someone with whom you can have a deep, fulfilling relationship.
They explain why you are such a strong match, whether you have known each other in previous lives, and why your souls chose to meet again in this lifetime.
A fixed, unshakeable mindset is hard to let go of.
But please know this: your guides never say these things to work against you. On the contrary, they want to guide you toward real love and genuine happiness.
